Reggie "Showtime" Jones

Reggie “Showtime” Jones

Reggie “Showtime” Jones

Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, Reggie ‘Showtime’ Jones always dreamed of being extraordinary and accomplishing great things in his life. Although many events in his life were not much to brag about, he found a way to carry on. Left to help raise his sisters at the young age of 13 after his mother was incarcerated, and his dad was killed in a fire, Reggie decided that setting a good example and striving for success were his only options. Reggie took that tragic moment in his life and turned tragedy into a trampoline propelling himself higher.

Reggie grasped onto anything positive: quotes, motivational speeches, movies, etc. He built a formula for success and stuck to it. Achieving All-Star status at Kent-Meridian High School, excelling in football, track and swimming including setting his school record in triple jump, he knew that playing football was his way of reaching a larger audience of people to spread his knowledge on overcoming adversity.

Reggie was a 3 year starter at the University of Idaho before transferring to Portland State University where he started his Senior and had a breakout season with 4 interceptions and one for a touchdown. Starting as a True Freshman at the University of Idaho, injuries disabled him from making the mark he wanted on the field. Finishing his college football career and graduating with a bachelors degree in Social Sciences at Portland State University, Reggie was chosen by the New Orleans Saints. However, he would later tear his Achilles’ tendon which again delayed the impact he wanted to make.

Reasons for joining SforS: “I genuinely believe that every child, when given the opportunity and resources can achieve their greatest potential. Many children find themselves in difficult circumstances that they did not create and unfortunately they are unlikely to overcome those circumstances without outside help. The mentoring, guidance and resources provided by Showtime for Stars helps eliminate the boundaries of a negative environment and gives children the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential.”

Running a foundation DAD n ME for 4years he’s witnessed children in broken, fatherless, and motherless homes. He is until this day constantly in the community advocating for them. He has worked with HABITAT for HUMANITY, WORLD VISION, AMERICORPS, and more to help rebuild the next generation. Having 4 children ( son, 3 daughters ) of his own and being married for 12-years Kenneth knows the impact that a great mentor can make.

Reasons for joining SforS:  Seeing with my own eyes that this wasn’t just another athlete starting a charity out of obligation sparked my interest. After hearing Reggie Jones speak in person and the story behind his life and his drive to help the children I wanted to do whatever I could to be involved. The passion and drive that the leader of this foundation has is unmatched. I would put this foundation and its leader up against any because there is truly something new and improved that will be hard to even think about replicating, it’s truly special, and who doesn’t want to be apart of something that is on pace to be legendary when it comes to impacting children’s lives.

Through Showtime for Stars, I believe that we can assist in eliminating the negative connotation of the word “no” one child at a time.
